Move between representation and abstraction with award-winning artist Anton Nowels. Artists will explore concepts related to plein air painting, including how to compose and key a painting. They will also learn how to combine tone and color with intervals and Notans, leading to more dynamic work.
The workshop will include discussions of artists who use both plein air and abstraction in their work, including T. Allen Lawson, Russell Chatham, Len Chmeil, Edgar Payne, Maynard Dixon, Joan Mitchell, Franz Kline, Claude Monet, Josef Albers, and more. Anton will demonstrate representation and abstraction en plein air, leading into studio work. All levels are welcome.
