Join us for an afternoon of creativity and conversation at this introductory monoprinting workshop led by artist and printmaker Rachel Ruleaux. No experience is necessary—this is a fun, hands-on opportunity to explore printmaking in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
The workshop will begin with light refreshments and an informal roundtable discussion led by photographer and Women in Wyoming creator Lindsay Linton Buk. The exhibit, currently on view at The Brinton Museum, celebrates the strength, innovation, and spirit of Wyoming women through powerful portraits and stories. Lindsay will share insights into her creative process and the women who inspired the project, setting the stage for a thoughtful and expressive afternoon of printmaking.
Following the discussion, participants will move into the print shop for a demonstration on preparing printing plates using a variety of techniques that can be explored and combined. The process of pulling both a first print and a ghost print will be demonstrated, along with examples of how to build on initial impressions to create a small, evolving suite of monoprints. This segment will last approximately 30–40 minutes and include time for questions and discussion.
The remainder of the workshop will be dedicated to hands-on art making in a self-paced, open format. Students will have the opportunity to sketch, prepare plates, and print at their own rhythm. The instructor and assistant will be available throughout to provide guidance and support. All materials are provided and are non-toxic.
Students, please meet at the Neltje Center for Excellence in Creativity and the Arts by noon on Saturday, May 24.
